The Role
We're seeking a QA Contractor to perform comprehensive system-level testing before each release to our customers. You'll be responsible for ensuring our multi-platform product (Chrome Extension, Outlook Add-in, web portal) works flawlessly across different environments, catching issues before they reach production. This is a critical quality gate role that directly protects our customer experience.
What You'll Do
System-Level Testing (60%)
Execute comprehensive test plans across Chrome Extension, Outlook Add-in, and web portal
Perform end-to-end user journey testing (signup, authentication, email composition, integrations)
Validate AI-generated email responses for quality, accuracy, and appropriateness
Test across multiple browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave) and Outlook platforms (Desktop, Web, Mac)
Verify OAuth integrations with Gmail and third-party case management systems
Test email template management, settings, and user preferences
Validate cross-platform feature parity and consistency
Regression & Release Testing (30%)
Execute regression test suites before staging and production deployments
Verify bug fixes and ensure no regressions in existing functionality
Test new features against acceptance criteria
Validate deployment across dev, staging, and production environments
Perform smoke tests post-deployment to verify system health
Test edge cases, error handling, and boundary conditions
Bug Reporting & Documentation (10%)
Document bugs with clear reproduction steps, screenshots, and environment details
Prioritize issues based on severity and user impact
Communicate findings clearly to the engineering team
Maintain test documentation and test case repositories
Track issues through resolution and verify fixes

Frontend Platforms
Chrome Extension: Gmail integration, side panel, options page, content scripts
Outlook Add-in: Compose interface, task pane, Outlook Desktop/Web/Mac
Web Portal: React-based settings and management portal
Cross-browser compatibility (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Safari)
Core Features to Test
User authentication (Cognito, OAuth 2.0)
Gmail and Outlook email reading/writing
Third-party integrations (case management systems)
Notification systems and error states
Backend Systems (Black Box Testing)

What We're Looking For
Required
3+ years of QA/testing experience, preferably in SaaS or web applications
Experience testing Chrome extensions or browser-based applications
Strong understanding of web technologies (REST APIs, OAuth, authentication flows)
Excellent attention to detail and systematic testing approach
Ability to write clear, detailed bug reports with reproduction steps
Experience with multi-platform testing (web, mobile, or extensions)
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication skills for async collaboration
Highly Desired
Experience testing Outlook Add-ins or Office 365 applications
Familiarity with AI/LLM-based products and testing AI outputs
Experience with cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility testing
Knowledge of testing OAuth flows and third-party integrations
Understanding of manual and exploratory testing methodologies
Experience with bug tracking tools (Jira, Linear, GitHub Issues)
Basic understanding of Chrome DevTools and browser debugging
Bonus Points
Experience with test automation (Playwright, Selenium, Vitest)
Familiarity with React, TypeScript, or modern frontend frameworks
Understanding of AWS services or serverless architectures
Previous experience in startup environments
Experience testing email clients or productivity tools
Knowledge of accessibility testing (WCAG standards)

Contract Details
Commitment
Contract type: Part-time contractor (15-25 hours/week)
Flexibility: Testing cycles align with the release schedule (typically weekly or bi-weekly)
Duration: Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension
Remote: Fully remote position
Typical Schedule
Pre-release testing: 20-25 hours during release weeks
Maintenance testing: 10-15 hours during non-release weeks
Flexible hours, but availability during US business hours preferred for communication
Work Pattern
Receive release notes and features to test
Execute test plans over 2-3 day testing cycle
Document and report findings
Re-test fixes before final release approval
Provide release sign-off or blocker identification
