Oct 10, 2025

The company recently announced funding from The LegalTech Fund and its selection to join the inaugural LegalTech Lab, accelerating its mission to modernize how legal professionals manage and respond to email.

AUSTIN, TX — October 10, 2025 — Candle AI, the company using AI to transform how legal professionals manage and respond to email, recently announced an investment from The LegalTech Fund (TLTF), the leading venture capital firm dedicated to advancing innovation in the legal industry. Candle AI was also selected to join the first batch of The LegalTech Fund’s LegalTech Lab, an initiative designed to support and scale early-stage companies shaping the future of law.
Founded by Carl Davidson, a former lawyer, and Sujith Jose, an AI technologist, Candle AI is on a mission to make email less painful for lawyers and legal teams. The platform integrates directly with Gmail and Outlook, connecting with existing case management systems to surface case and client details instantly, draft context-aware client responses automatically, and allow users to create and edit firm-specific email templates — all without leaving the inbox.

“The LegalTech Fund is one of the most respected investors in the legal technology space,” said Sujith Jose, Co-Founder Candle AI. “Having Zach Posner and his team believe in our vision is an incredible vote of confidence in the problem we’re solving and the product we’re building.”

The LegalTech Fund has backed many of the most recognizable companies shaping the future of legal work, and its investment in Candle AI underscores the growing demand for tools that help legal professionals save time, reduce context switching, and communicate more efficiently.

“Email remains one of the biggest pain points for lawyers,” said Carl Davidson, Co-Founder of Candle AI. “As someone who’s lived that problem firsthand, I know how much time and mental energy is lost to the back-and-forth of client communication. We built Candle to give that time back.”

With TLTF’s backing and Candle’s participation in the LegalTech Lab, Candle AI plans to accelerate product development, expand integrations with leading legal software platforms, and continue partnering with law firms to modernize how the legal industry communicates.

“We’re also thrilled to join The LegalTech Lab,” added Carl Davidson, “The Lab’s network, mentorship, and deep understanding of the legal tech landscape will be invaluable as we continue to grow and build tools that make legal work faster and more efficient.”
